Former Minister for Finance and Member of Parliament for Karaga, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has handed over a newly constructed 300-bed hostel facility to the Ambariyya Islamic Institute in Tamale, in a move aimed at strengthening Islamic education and improving student welfare in the Northern Region.
The dormitory project, which responds to a request from the leadership of the Institute, is intended to address persistent accommodation challenges faced by students from communities outside Tamale as well as foreign students, particularly those from the West African sub-region who enroll at the school to pursue Islamic studies.
Speaking on behalf of Dr. Amin Adam at a brief handover ceremony, his personal aide, Abdul Halim Tikuma, said the facility reflects the MP’s long-standing commitment to expanding access to education, both secular and Arabic.

He noted that the project was personally constructed by Dr. Amin Adam and urged the Ambariyya Islamic community to continue supporting him with prayers, adding that the intervention marks the beginning of further assistance to the Institute.
Receiving the facility on behalf of the Ambariyya leadership, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Awal Issah expressed appreciation to the former Finance Minister for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention.
He said the new hostel would significantly enhance teaching and learning by providing students from distant communities with a safe, comfortable, and conducive place of residence, describing the project as a major boost to the promotion of Islamic education.

The 300-bed hostel is equipped with auxiliary facilities, including washrooms, a sick bay, a conference room, and a waiting area for visiting parents, all aimed at improving the overall welfare of students.
The Ambariyya Islamic Institute is one of the most respected centers of Islamic learning in Northern Ghana, attracting students from across the country and the wider West African sub-region.
