President Mahama embarks on high-stakes diplomatic tour, leveraging UAE-provided aircraft for state visit focused on trade, AfCFTA, and a historic speech to Zambia’s Parliament.

In a move underscoring his signature Pan-African agenda, Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama is set for a significant three-day State Visit to the Republic of Zambia from 4th to 6th February 2026, at the invitation of President Hakainde Hichilema.

The visit, announced by the Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu (MP), promises a packed schedule of high-level diplomacy and economic engagement. President Mahama, accompanied by First Lady Lordina Mahama, will dive straight into bilateral talks with his Zambian counterpart, with strengthening ties under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) at the top of the agenda.

A major highlight will be President Mahama’s address to the National Assembly of Zambia, a rare honour allowing him to directly articulate Ghana’s vision for a more integrated and prosperous Africa to a regional peer’s legislature.

The economic core of the visit is the Ghana-Zambia Business Dialogue, co-chaired by the two Presidents. Ghana plans to use this platform to aggressively showcase its cutting-edge digital technologies and fintech services to Zambian businesses and government institutions, aiming to forge new commercial partnerships.

This visit underscores President Mahama’s unwavering commitment to an Africa seamlessly connected through enhanced infrastructure, expanded trade, and the free movement of people, Kwakye Ofosu stated.

He remains a strong advocate for the accelerated implementation of the AfCFTA to transform economies and create jobs for our youth.
