The Government of Ghana has signed a US$12.83 million grant agreement with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to finance feasibility studies for key infrastructure and industrial projects under the Big Push programme.
The agreement was signed earlier today by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and will support detailed preparatory work for a proposed interchange at the 37 Military Hospital, the redevelopment of major markets, and the establishment of Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones.

The market redevelopment component will cover Agbogbloshie Market in Accra, Techiman Market in the Bono East Region, Sekondi Market in the Western Region, and Mankessim Market in the Central Region.
In addition, feasibility studies will be conducted for Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones in the Afram Plains, Nsawam, and Builsa.
According to the Finance Minister, the grant will fund comprehensive feasibility studies, including full engineering designs, cost estimates, and environmental and social impact assessments, to ensure that the projects are construction-ready.

Dr. Forson expressed appreciation to the African Development Bank and its Country Manager, Ms. Eyerusalem Fasika, for their continued partnership and support, noting that the collaboration is critical to advancing Ghana’s infrastructure and industrialisation agenda.
He said the government’s objective is to complete the studies within a timeframe that will allow construction to commence as soon as possible, in line with the broader goals of the Big Push programme to stimulate economic growth, improve urban infrastructure, and enhance agro-industrial development across the country.
