Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commended the Presidential Election Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its impressive and transparent handling of preparations ahead of the party’s primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31.
In a statement by the former president on Friday, January 9, following a briefing by the Committee, he expressed his satisfaction with the progress made so far in the planning and execution of the internal electoral process.
According to him, the Committee’s work has been marked by clarity, openness, and strict adherence to democratic principles, adding that the approach adopted has reinforced confidence in the credibility of the exercise.

He added that the Committee’s insistence on transparency has helped to safeguard what he described as the sanctity of the process, ensuring fairness and trust among stakeholders.
“The Committee’s work, thus far, has been nothing short of impressive. Key milestones achieved on the principles of zero-tolerance for opacity have ensured transparency and guarded religiously the sanctity of the process” he said
The Presidential Election Committee is chaired by former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu, whose leadership has been credited with promoting inclusiveness, fairness, and compliance with party regulations throughout the process.

Party insiders say the Committee’s conduct underscores the NPP’s commitment to internal democracy and accountability as it prepares to elect a flagbearer for the next general election.
With the January 31 presidential primary approaching, Nana Akufo-Addo’s endorsement is expected to bolster confidence among party delegates, aspirants, and the wider public in the integrity of the process overseen by Joseph Osei-Owusu and his team.
