Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, aspiring NPP flagbearer, has dismissed former Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia as irrelevant to his political journey.
“I do not have time for Dr Bawumia. In my life, he does not exist, because if he existed, I might commit a crime. That is how I see myself,” Agyapong said.
He hinted that Bawumia influenced controversial statements by Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, but refrained from commenting further.
Agyapong also raised concerns over possible manipulation of the party’s internal electoral processes.
“I do not have time for them, but that does not mean they have to rig the election. I believe in the structures, and I know all the Electoral Commission officials my opponents have engaged with. They plan to use the party’s internal security to humiliate anyone who comes close,” he said.
Reflecting on a previous encounter at the residence of former President Nana Akufo-Addo, he maintained that social media had misrepresented his remarks.
“Some time ago, something happened at the residence of former President Akufo-Addo. I mentioned a certain man’s name; there was nobody there when I left. The next day, it was posted on social media, but I do not have anything against anybody,” he explained.
Speaking on United Television in Accra, Agyapong expressed frustration at the lack of acknowledgment for his contributions during the last election campaign.
“Did I not campaign for him during the recent election? After that, did he even call me to appreciate my efforts? His followers were even insulting me. The only loyal person from his camp was NAPO. I took him to my warehouse and gave out items freely. He had young boys who claimed that I never campaigned,” he lamented.
