Tamale, December 2, 2025 – An early-morning patrol by the IGP Special Operations Team on Tuesday led to the arrest of five suspects and the retrieval of suspected narcotics and stolen items in two separate areas within the Tamale Metropolis.
The team, led by ASP Bawah Abdul Jalil, was travelling along Nobisco–Mariam Hotel Street as part of routine operational movement when officers observed unusual activity inside the Nobisco Forest, a location where a police operation had been carried out just days earlier.

According to the team, the forest was once again crowded with individuals allegedly engaged in smoking and suspected drug-related acts.
Police say most of the individuals took to their heels upon seeing the officers, due to the unplanned nature of the intervention.
However, four suspects were arrested at the scene. Items retrieved from them included quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, four bottles of Benylin, and one bottle of Koffex.
Additional items suspected to be linked to criminal activity were also found in the area, including five unregistered motorbikes believed to be stolen and four mobile phones.
The Special Operations Team subsequently moved to the Ligion area near the lorry station close to Miliki Tea Joint, where one more suspect was arrested for possessing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

All five suspects, together with the seized items, have been transported to the Northern Regional Police Headquarters for detention, profiling, and further investigation.
Police say all exhibits will be screened as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug-related and criminal networks within the Metropolis.
ASP Bawah Abdul Jalil reaffirmed the Special Operations Team’s commitment to intensifying security operations, stressing that the police will continue to maintain law and order in the region.
