Tension has gripped the Nollywood film industry following an on-set altercation between actor Taye Arimoro and actress-producer Peggy Ovire, with CCTV footage of the incident circulating widely on social media and sparking mixed reactions.

The confrontation occurred during the filming of an upcoming production, where both sides have since traded blame over what led to the heated encounter.

Arimoro alleges that he was prevented from leaving the set after his scheduled working hours. He claims members of Ovire’s crew restrained him, deflated his car tyres and assaulted him.

The actor later shared videos showing injuries to his mouth, which he attributed to the alleged confrontation.

Ovire has denied the accusations, stating that Arimoro became aggressive and attacked crew members, including her driver. She released images and video of her injured driver, who was seen bleeding from the ear.

According to her, the situation escalated when she attempted to intervene and retrieve Arimoro’s car key during the disruption.

CCTV footage from the location, which has gone viral, shows a physical struggle involving Arimoro, Ovire and some crew members.

While the footage confirms a scuffle, it does not clearly establish which party initiated the confrontation.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has condemned the incident, describing it as unprofessional and avoidable. The Guild has announced that it has commenced a probe to establish the facts and ensure appropriate action is taken.

The AGN says its investigation will address the conduct of all parties involved, as the industry awaits further clarification on the circumstances that led to the confrontation.
