The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TaMA) has disbursed a total of GHS 221,000.00 to seventy-three (73) Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the metropolis as part of efforts to promote social inclusion and economic empowerment.

The financial support, distributed through the Department of Social Welfare on Monday, November 3, 2025, is aimed at helping beneficiaries either start or expand small-scale businesses and other income-generating ventures. Beneficiaries were drawn from various communities across the Tamale Metropolis.

Speaking at the brief ceremony, the Mayor of Tamale, Hon. Alhaji Abu Takoro, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to improve their livelihoods and become self-reliant.

“This support is designed to empower you to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of our metropolis.”

Hon. Abu Takoro stated. He further advised the recipients to invest wisely and take full advantage of the opportunity to enhance their economic independence and living conditions.

The disbursement forms part of TaMA’s ongoing initiative to strengthen social protection systems and ensure that no member of the community is left behind in the city’s development agenda.
