The Mayor of Tamale, Alhaji Adam Abubakari Takoro, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly to deepen its long-standing partnership with the German city of Münster under the Sister-City Relationship and Local Governance Exchange Programme.

He gave the assurance when he received a five-member delegation from Overbeck College in Münster, Germany, who paid a courtesy call on him at his office on Wednesday.

The delegation, made up of staff and students, was accompanied by representatives from Bagabaga College of Education, led by the Principal, Professor Gazale.

The visit forms part of a four-day academic and cultural exchange program between Overbeck College and Bagabaga College of Education, marking the beginning of a new partnership between the two sister institutions.

The initiative seeks to promote collaboration in pedagogical learning, research, and cultural understanding among students and faculty.

Mayor Takoro expressed appreciation to the city authorities of Münster and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for their continued cooperation with the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, especially through joint development projects and governance capacity-building initiatives.

He also highlighted key government interventions in the metropolis, particularly in education, health, water, and sanitation, and encouraged the visiting delegation to consider exploring areas for funding and technical support to complement these ongoing efforts.

The Mayor emphasized that Tamale remains committed to fostering sustainable international partnerships that advance knowledge exchange, social development, and mutual prosperity between the people of Ghana and Germany.

We reaffirm our shared commitment to strengthening the long-standing partnership between Tamale and Münster in pursuit of mutual growth, development, and lasting friendship, he said.
