The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has said that it requires GH¢300 million to resolve the country’s growing water challenges.

According to the utility provider, the amount will be used to repair broken-down equipment and boost water production for both domestic and commercial use.

Speaking on Monday, October 20, 2025, the Managing Director of GWL, Adam Mutawakilu, said the investment is crucial to improving operations and ensuring reliable water supply across the country.

“If you refer to the report by the Ministry of Works and Housing, you will need about GH¢150 on average to distill a cubic foot of water. So, the budget is huge. We think with about GH¢300 million, we can undertake the entire challenge,” he explained.

Mr. Mutawakilu emphasised that the support would help the company restore efficiency in its systems and expand its capacity to meet the increasing demand for clean water.
