Savannah, October 9, 2025 – The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced the completion and commissioning of new rural electrification projects across fourteen (14) communities in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
The commissioning, scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2025, will be led by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor (MP).
The beneficiary communities include Zollampe, Nikpegu, Torope, Dokope, Kpatinyan, Darivogupe, Bagpe, Dawunipe, Diwurupe, Larigbani, Mammudupe, Sankaupe, and Nyinyape.
The projects form part of the government’s broader effort to enhance access to reliable and affordable electricity, improve rural livelihoods, and promote inclusive growth through the National Electrification Scheme.
According to the Ministry, the commissioning represents a major stride in Ghana’s commitment to energy equity and rural development.
The event is expected to draw participation from traditional leaders, opinion leaders, officials from the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), the Central Gonja District Assembly, and members of the beneficiary communities.
Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Hon. Jinapor reaffirmed government’s dedication to ensuring equitable access to modern energy services nationwide.
He noted that access to electricity goes beyond lighting homes—it is a catalyst for job creation, innovation, and community transformation.
Electricity is not just about lighting homes; it is about powering opportunity, driving enterprise, and transforming lives, Hon. Jinapor stated.
Through projects like these, we are delivering on our promise to make energy the bedrock of Ghana’s green and inclusive development.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to advancing the nation’s green transition agenda through sustainable energy policies, partnerships, and rural electrification programmes designed to reach even the most remote communities.
