Cape Town, South Africa – The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, has held a strategic meeting with executives from Chevron International Exploration and Production Limited on the sidelines of the ongoing African Energy Week in Cape Town.

The discussions, led by Mr. Chris Jablonski, Director of Commercial at Chevron, centered on Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector and the country’s vision under President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership to promote transparency, attract investment, and enhance governance.

According to Minister Jinapor, the talks also highlighted the critical role of natural gas in Ghana’s energy future.

He emphasized government’s strong commitment to reducing overreliance on liquid fossil fuels by prioritizing natural gas as a cleaner, cost-effective, and more efficient energy source.

I took the opportunity to reaffirm President Mahama’s unwavering commitment to restoring investor confidence in the upstream petroleum sector through sound policies, stable regulations, and a transparent investment climate, the Minister stated.

The Chevron delegation included Gavin Lewis, Head of Chevron Exploration; Mamadou Blondin, Vice President for Middle East & Africa Corporate Affairs; and Chris Fordham, Business Development Manager.

Both parties expressed optimism about building stronger partnerships that will not only support Ghana’s ongoing energy transition but also contribute to long-term economic growth.
