Bole, Savannah Region – Olam Food Ingredients (Ofi) has extended a humanitarian gesture to communities affected by the recent Gbiniyiri conflict in the Bole and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Districts of the Savannah Region.
The company donated 200 bags of rice and 70 packs of tin tomatoes to support displaced families and security personnel working to restore peace in the area.
The beneficiary communities include Sawla, Blema, Kalba, Chenchere Sogoyiri, Komkorope, and Bale, which were significantly affected by the disturbances.

Speaking to Bole-based Nkilgi FM, the General Manager of Ofi Ghana, Mr. Raphael Yussif Amankwa, expressed sadness over the hardships residents are facing due to the conflict. He noted that Ofi Ghana, formerly known as Olam Ghana, has been operating in the Bole and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Districts for over three decades, primarily in the cashew sector, providing support to farmers and communities.
“It is very sad and unfortunate to see our people going through such anxiety. We came to pay homage to the chiefs and also to offer our small contribution to support them during this difficult time,” Mr. Amankwa said. He emphasised that the company’s support extends not only to displaced residents but also to the security agencies working tirelessly to maintain order.

He further explained that peace in the area is crucial for the success of their operations and the livelihoods of many farmers. “When there is peace, our business runs smoothly. But in times of conflict, everything slows down drastically. We pray for peace to return so normal activities can resume,” he added. Mr. Amankwa also raised concerns about potential food insecurity, as many residents have abandoned their farms and livestock due to the unrest.
On behalf of the beneficiary communities, Sawlawura Abdulai Nugbaso expressed profound gratitude to Ofi for the timely intervention. He recalled the history of peaceful coexistence among the communities and called on residents to avoid actions that could fuel further tensions.

“There will never be conflict if people don’t go beyond their limits,” he said, urging the youth to exercise caution, particularly in their use of social media. According to him, exaggerated and inflammatory posts are worsening the situation. “As some are preaching peace, others are inciting trouble online. This must stop,” he stressed.
The donation by Olam Food Ingredients comes at a critical time as efforts continue to restore calm to the affected districts and prevent further displacement and hardship.
