Tamale, NR, – Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has restated President John Dramani Mahama’s resolve to ensure that Northern Ghana attains the kind of development that makes it sustainable.
Addressing the first-ever Northern Development Conference in Tamale, Mr. Debrah praised the Northern Caucus of Parliament for taking the lead in the initiative to ensure that the country as a whole takes an interest in the fact that the north lags in development, despite its vast resources.

He reiterated the demands in a message by the President which highlights the necessity for all regional development projects to be documented to guarantee their continuity into the tenure of other political office holders.
He promised the retreatants that the presidency is fully supportive of the initiatives that can ensure real and marked change in the north, saying, “this is why we have no reservation backing them.”
“The President has a strong conviction in the long-term prosperity of northern Ghana and we must ensure that every intervention is strategic and sustainable,” Mr. Debrah said.

The conference was attended by representatives from government, development partners, local leaders and other stakeholders to brainstorm on emerging solutions to prominent socio-economic challenges facing the region and ways to harness its latent potential.
