Yendi, April 30, 2025: In a significant display of traditional diplomacy and inter-ethnic unity, the Overlord of the Mamprugu Kingdom, Nayiri Naa Mahami Abdulai Bohagu Shariga, has officially forgiven former Roads and Highways Minister, Alhaji Lawyer Inusah Fuseini, following an intervention by the Ya-Na, Abukari II.
The reconciliation came after Lawyer Inusah Fuseini made public comments that displeased the Mamprugu Kingdom.
In response, the Ya-Na dispatched a delegation of chiefs and elders from the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi to the Nayiri’s Palace to seek forgiveness on behalf of the former minister.
According to a statement released by the Gbewaa Palace, the Nayiri warmly received the delegation and, after careful consideration and in the spirit of peace and reconciliation, extended his forgiveness to Lawyer Fuseini.
The gesture of goodwill was symbolised by the presentation of cola nuts, a customary act of peace in many northern Ghanaian traditions.
The Ya-Na expressed profound gratitude to the Nayiri for his magnanimity, describing the act as a reaffirmation of the strong bond and enduring brotherhood between the Dagbon and Mamprugu kingdoms.
This magnanimous act not only reflects the strong bond between our traditional areas but also underscores the enduring spirit of brotherhood and love that defines our relationships, the statement read.
The Ya-Na further expressed hope that the resolution of the matter would serve as a lesson on the importance of respectful dialogue and the avoidance of comments that could incite division or disharmony.
The statement was signed by the Gbewaa Palace Secretary, Alhaji Abdul Rahaman Mohammed, and marked a peaceful conclusion to what could have become a divisive issue between two of the most influential traditional authorities in northern Ghana.
