Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) inherited a government plagued by weak leadership and corruption.
Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues on Sunday, April 20, 2025, Mr. Gbande said President Mahama is working hard to address leadership challenges and fight corruption in the country.
“We met a system with no leadership and full of corruption. That is what we are trying to clean up,” he said.
Mr. Gbande, who is also the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, explained that since President Mahama assumed office, the country’s security agencies have become more active in combating crime. He mentioned serious offences such as money laundering, drug trafficking, and cybercrime as areas where decisive action is now being taken.
“In just 100 days, you can now hear about crimes that were happening secretly under the previous government but were never talked about,” he added.
He accused the former Akufo-Addo administration of turning a blind eye to these crimes, saying, “They were happening, but no one heard of them. Today, our government is fighting them head-on.”
