Government of Ghana Engages IMF on 2025 Budget

Accra, 10th February 2025 – The Government of Ghana has commenced discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of a staff visit aimed at assessing Ghana’s economic progress under the IMF-supported programme.

The meetings, which started today, will run until Friday, 14th February 2025, and are being led by the IMF Mission Chief for Ghana, Stephane Roudet.

The discussions will primarily focus on Ghana’s progress under the ongoing IMF programme and the government’s policy direction for the 2025 national budget.

Additionally, critical areas under review include revenue administration reforms, energy sector reforms, expenditure rationalisation, and the management of the exchange rate.

Representatives from the Bank of Ghana, the Ghana Revenue Authority, and other key institutions are expected to participate in the discussions.

The government has assured the public of its unwavering commitment to prioritising macroeconomic stability, job creation, and improving the livelihoods of Ghanaians.

This engagement with the IMF marks another step in Ghana’s efforts to stabilise its economy and build a sustainable framework for economic growth.
