Tamale Senior High School (TAMASCO) has received a brand-new 35-seater bus from one of its illustrious alumni, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers & Planners Ltd and Dzata Cement Ltd.
The donation was made on Friday, November 22, 2024, at a durbar held on the school premises in Tamale.
Mr. Mahama, unable to attend the event personally due to prior engagements, was represented by his Special Aide, Mr. Rafik Mahama. The short event was graced by the Old Tamascan Association, students, and staff of the school.
Speaking on behalf of Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, Rafik Mahama emphasized his principal’s commitment to improving the lives of students and supporting the less privileged in society.
Mr. Ibrahim Mahama sent me from Accra to present the bus to the NSMQ team and the student population at large. He hopes this gesture will alleviate some of the transportation challenges on campus and inspire students to study hard and aspire to greatness, he remarked.
The Headmaster of TAMASCO, who received the bus on behalf of the school, expressed profound gratitude for Mr. Mahama’s continuous support.
This donation is a significant relief for the school, especially for our National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) team. As an old student, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama has consistently demonstrated his dedication to the school’s progress, he said.
The Headmaster also highlighted another major project spearheaded by Mr. Mahama — the construction of a 1,200-bed ultra-modern dormitory for TAMASCO.
Initially designed to accommodate 700 students, the project was expanded to 1,200 beds on the advice of experienced engineers. Work on the dormitory, fully financed by Mr. Mahama, is 90% complete and is expected to address the school’s long-standing accommodation challenges.
The donation of the bus and the ongoing dormitory project underscore Mr. Ibrahim Mahama’s commitment to fostering quality education and improving infrastructure at his alma mater.
