The Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, Ndan Ya Naa Mahama Abukari II, has urged the people of Dagbon to embrace dialogue and foster unity to sustain the peace currently enjoyed in the kingdom.

The Dagbon King made this appeal on Tuesday during a courtesy call by the Ghana Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons at the Gbewaa Palace.

In his address, Ya Naa Mahama Abukari II expressed profound gratitude to the Commission for its “Silence the Guns and Save Lives” initiative, describing it as a critical effort that must be nurtured and integrated into modern society.

His Royal Majesty emphasized the importance of peace, pledging the unwavering support of the Gbewaa Palace to all individuals and organizations championing peace in Dagbon and Ghana at large.

The Commission has come at a time when peace, unity, and peaceful coexistence are my daily motivational messages to my subjects, the King noted.

He stressed that peace is an invaluable asset that the kingdom must embrace, stating, “Without peace, everything, including development and our very existence, is under threat.”

The Overlord further disclosed that he has convened the Dagbon Traditional Council and the Northern Regional House of Chiefs on two separate occasions to emphasize the significance of promoting and demonstrating peace for the kingdom’s progress.

Ya Naa Mahama Abukari II reaffirmed the Gbewaa Palace’s commitment to embodying peace and called on all Dagbon citizens to avoid any form of violence, adding that dialogue remains the only sustainable path to unity and development.

The Ghana Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons’ visit highlighted its dedication to addressing violence and promoting national security.
