Tamale, Northern Region – Mr. Ishmael Abdul Hamid, CEO of Ishe Huss Company and Koyasco Info Tech Limited, and a dedicated financier of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a significant donation to orphan constituencies in the Northern Region ahead of the December 7, 2024, general elections.
His donation includes 5,000 T-shirts, 2,000 scarves, other party paraphernalia, and an undisclosed sum of money to boost the party’s campaign efforts in these key constituencies.
The constituencies benefiting from his support include Nanton, Tolon, Yendi, Gushegu, Tatale, Karaga, Bimbilla, and Mion. Mr. Ishmael believes his contribution will strengthen the NDC’s chances of winning these seats, which are currently held by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This support will go a long way to help the NDC win most of these constituencies, helping the party form a large majority in parliament come the 7th December elections, he said.
According to Ishmael, the NDC lost these constituencies to the NPP in previous elections because the party’s candidates were financially constrained.
He hopes his donation will reverse this trend by enabling the NDC to secure a resounding victory for former President John Dramani Mahama and the party’s parliamentary candidates.
Despite ongoing campaigns by NDC candidates in the region, Mr. Ishmael is confident his support will enhance their efforts. His week-long outreach program featured various activities, including football gala matches, door-to-door campaigns, and retail engagements. These events were aimed at energizing the party’s grassroots support, particularly first-time voters.
One of the highlights of his outreach was a football gala organized in Nanton, targeting young voters, which drew significant attention and enthusiasm from the community. Additionally, in the Greater Tamale area, constituencies such as Tamale North, Tamale South, Tamale Central, and Sagnarigu, where the NDC holds sway, Mr. Ishmael donated party T-shirts to support the parliamentary candidates’ campaigns.
Cash donations were also made to over 40 youth groups to enhance their door-to-door campaign efforts.
When asked why he is investing in politics at this stage of his life, Mr Ishmael stated that there is no better way to contribute to the country’s future than by helping to remove the NPP from power.
He criticized the current government for plunging Ghana’s economy into a state of crisis, which has negatively affected businesses and made economic recovery difficult.
Returns or profits from any business in Ghana are not guaranteed under this regime because of the dire economic situation, he said.
During a door-to-door campaign in the Tamale North constituency, Mr. Ishmael urged first-time voters and market women to trust in the transformational plans of former President John Mahama and to vote massively for him to alleviate their economic difficulties. However, he cautioned that the election will not be easily won.
As an IT specialist, he also warned of potential attempts by the NPP, in collaboration with the National Communications Authority (NCA), to disrupt internet connectivity on election day as part of efforts to rig the results.
Nonetheless, Mr. Ishmael assured that the NDC has developed contingency measures to ensure smooth, real-time collation of results, regardless of any such interference. “Even if the NCA shuts down internet connectivity on election day, the NDC will still have a fast and secure way to collate our results,” he declared.
As part of his regional tour, Mr. Ishmael also appeared on local media outlets to educate voters on the importance of casting their votes correctly and mobilizing support for the NDC. He urged Ghanaians to vote massively for John Mahama and all NDC candidates across the Northern Region and the country, predicting an inevitable NDC victory in December.
We are poised for victory come December 7, 2024, and nothing, I repeat, nothing can change this because it is ordained by God. Ghanaians cannot continue to suffer under this corrupt Nana-Bawumia government, he asserted.
He concluded by highlighting the overwhelming support for John Mahama during his tour, noting that youth, elders, men, and women across the region are calling for Mahama’s return to power. He also emphasized the NDC’s “Coders Program” and “24-Hour Economy” policies, pledging that these initiatives will bring hope and prosperity to future generations.
These are the best policies to salvage the plight of the Ghanaian people, he said, urging the youth to back the NDC for a brighter future.
As the December elections approach, the NDC in the Northern Region appears to be gearing up for a strong contest with renewed vigour, thanks to the timely intervention of supporters like Mr Ishmael Abdul Hamid.
