The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has cautioned the public not to fall victim to recruitment scams by unscrupulous individuals who promise enlistment into the military.
Head of Public Relations at GAF, Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, in an interview with TV3 on Monday, August 5, clarified that GAF offers recruitment opportunities through an official website and not through individuals.
She urged persons who wish to be recruited into the Forces to obtain a scratch card and apply through the official website, apply.mil.gh, and follow the official process.
“The only means of getting either recruited or enlisted is to get the scratch card and go to apply.mil.gh, then the process will start.
“Anybody who tells you that he has a CDS protocol is lying. Anybody who tells you that we have a special list, please don’t go there, it is fake. They are all scammers,” she stated.
She stressed that GAF has instituted measures, including the introduction of a barcode, to crack down on fake recruitment.
“Now, what we have done is that we have put some security measures in place to ensure that, while we give you a code, we also have a barcode to cross-check with whatever code you have received. So if you don’t apply through the means I have mentioned, it is wrong and fake
“We are putting measures in place to make sure that anybody who is caught will be dealt with appropriately and handed over to the police,” she added.
To ease the pressure that comes with enlistment, GAF has decided to carry out this year’s process across all 16 regions in Ghana. The procedures will take place at regional centres.
“The unique thing about this year’s recruitment and enlistment is that it will be done in all 16 regions. And so, once you qualify, the Armed Forces will send you a code, which will tell you to meet at your regional centres, and then we begin the process of first inspecting your academic certificate.
“We will have a physical check or medical check, we will have some physical exercises as well, and you will need to write exams and go through a lot of other processes.
And this will be done at the regional level. Our recruitment and enlistment is always regionally based so that our Armed Forces has all the regions represented, depending on their population,” she remarked.
