Tamale – A former Northern Regional Campaign Coordinator for Alan Kyerematen, Ishmael Yehuza, has strongly opposed calls for the return of the Movement for Change leader to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Reacting to a Facebook post by Fuseini Safianu Mandeya, which referenced recent comments by Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong advocating for the reinstatement of suspended party members, including Mr. Kyerematen, Mr. Yehuza described the move as detrimental to the party’s fortunes.
“It is not right,” he stated, insisting that welcoming back the former Trade and Industry Minister would be against the NPP’s interest ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“Anyone advocating for Alan Kyerematen’s return to the NPP is, in my view, working against the party’s interests. His comeback would likely fuel further division rather than foster unity, hindering the party’s progress,” Mr. Yehuza wrote.
Alan Kyerematen, who broke away from the NPP to form the Movement for Change, contested the 2024 general elections as an independent candidate after resigning from the party in September 2023.
His departure created considerable debate within the NPP, with many still divided over how to approach his political future.
Mr. Yehuza’s comments add to growing concerns within some sections of the party about the implications of reintegrating figures who parted ways under controversial circumstances.
