Tamale, February 11, 2025 – Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Alhaji Muhammed Mumuni has emerged victorious in the Northern Region’s Council of State election held at the Residency Pavilion in Tamale.
According to the official Statement of Poll and Declaration of Results Form, Mumuni secured a commanding win with 26 votes out of 32 valid ballots cast.
His closest competitor, Richard Andani Yakubu (Alhaji Saashei Naa), garnered four votes, while Nyande Abdul Raqib received two votes. The fourth candidate, Adam Hussein, failed to secure any votes.
Out of the 50 ballots issued to the polling center, only 32 were used, with no rejected ballots recorded. The election, presided over by Lucas Yiryel, was concluded at 9:43 a.m. on February 11, 2025.
The results were duly signed and confirmed by the candidates’ agents, including Abdallah A. Basim for Alhaji Muhammed Mumuni, Musah N. Alima for Richard Andani Yakubu, Dr. Alimx (Hafix) for Nyande Abdul Raqib, and Abikari Mohammed Sadat for Adam Hussein.
With this victory, the former Minister for Foreign Affairs is set to represent the Northern Region on the Council of State, an advisory body to the President of Ghana. His overwhelming win underscores the confidence reposed in him by the electorate in the region.
