The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Savelugu Municipality, Hon. Alhassan Fuseini, popularly known as Bagaman, has donated 600 dual desks to the Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and 10 water pumping machines to selected farming communities within the municipality.
The items were procured through the 2025 District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) as part of efforts to improve education and agricultural productivity in the area.
Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, Hon. Fuseini urged the Municipal Directorate of GES to ensure the desks are put to judicious use to help improve teaching and learning outcomes.
He noted that the intervention aligns with the broader vision of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration to provide the necessary infrastructure and amenities to reduce challenges in the education sector, ease the burden on parents, and promote academic excellence.
The MCE also identified farming as the dominant occupation in the municipality and emphasized the need to support irrigation activities to boost food production and livelihoods.
He announced that 10 water pumping machines had been distributed to beneficiary communities, including Nyoglo, Libga, Zaazi, Moglaa, Bihinaayili, Chahi Yepalsi, Dinga, and Bunglung.
Hon. Fuseini said the donation forms part of his administration’s commitment to community development and improving living standards across the municipality.
Receiving the desks on behalf of the Municipal Directorate of GES, the Municipal Director of Education, Alhaji Mohammed Abdul Majeed, expressed gratitude to the MCE for what he described as a timely intervention.
He assured the Assembly and the people of Savelugu that the desks would be effectively and efficiently utilized to enhance teaching and learning in schools across the municipality.
The initiative has been widely welcomed by community members, who believe it will significantly contribute to educational development and agricultural productivity in the Savelugu Municipality.
