The government has increased the daily feeding grants for students in public special schools, raising the amount from GH¢8 per day to GH¢15 per day to better address the nutritional and health needs of learners with disabilities.

President John Dramani Mahama announced the increase while delivering his second State of the Nation Address on Friday, February 27, stating, “Government has also increased the daily feeding grants for students in public special schools from eight cedis per day to 15 cedis per day.”

He emphasised that the feeding grant increase forms part of a broader commitment to support learners with special needs, noting that “the amended GETFund Act has established a dedicated sustainable funding framework to implement free education for learners with special needs beginning in the 2026 academic year.”

The President said the feeding grant increase and the funding framework were measures designed to promote equity, nutrition, and sustained support for learners with disabilities.
