Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called on women in government and media to reflect on their responsibilities and renew their commitment to strengthening democratic governance and public trust.

Addressing the first Annual National Forum on Women in Government and Media, held under the theme “Leadership, Visibility and Public Trust,” the Vice President urged participants to embrace thoughtful reflection, responsibility, and purposeful leadership in their respective roles.

In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of women coming together to assess their individual journeys while remaining conscious of the many young women who look up to them as symbols of possibility and progress.

According to her, leadership is not limited to formal titles or positions of authority but often begins with simple yet impactful actions such as listening, mentoring, and offering encouragement.

Highlighting the media’s critical role in shaping national consciousness, the Vice President noted that visibility influences power and helps direct public narratives.

She stressed that leadership carries a lasting responsibility, particularly for women in journalism and public office who wield considerable influence in setting standards, strengthening accountability, and promoting credible voices.

She observed that in many respects, the media functions as a classroom for society, establishing meaningful benchmarks for integrity and public discourse.

The Vice President further encouraged women to have confidence in their capabilities, stating that institutions that create space for women in decision-making processes are stronger, more inclusive, and more impactful.

She urged women serving in public office and journalism to recognize their pivotal role in reinforcing democratic governance and advancing public trust.

The forum brought together women leaders from across government and the media to deliberate on strategies for enhancing visibility, strengthening leadership, and building sustained public confidence in democratic institutions.
