Sam George: Do not share, download, or circulate explicit Russian-linked videos

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has strongly warned the public against sharing, rebroadcasting, or downloading videos of some Ghanaian women, secretly recorded and shared by a Russian national, describing such actions as a criminal offence.

Speaking at a press conference alongside officials from the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, the Minister stressed that the government is taking decisive steps to track and secure digital and financial evidence related to the viral videos.

The Government has initiated steps to trace and secure relevant digital and financial evidence, he said.

Sam George emphasised that investigations are not limited to the foreign national involved.

Any individual, including Ghanaian nationals, who has shared, rebroadcast, or redistributed the illegal material is also liable under our laws, he warned.

He used the occasion to caution the public further: Do not share, download, circulate, or monetise this illegal content. Doing so constitutes a criminal offence.

The warning comes after viral videos surfaced showing a man identified as Yaytseslav interacting with Ghanaian women, some of whom were later reported to have accompanied him to his hotel.

The footage spread rapidly on social media, sparking public outrage and renewed calls for strict action against online sexual exploitation.

Authorities are now working to ensure that victims receive support while pursuing all legal avenues against those involved, including anyone who participates in circulating the content.
