Concerned Parents Association (CPA) hands over renovated boys’ dormitory to Tamale Islamic Science SHS

Tamale, December 18, 2025 – The Concerned Parents Association (CPA) of Islamic Science Senior High School has formally handed over a newly renovated boys’ dormitory to school management, marking a major milestone in efforts to improve student welfare and infrastructure at the institution.

At a short ceremony, held on the school premises Thursday December 18, 2025, attracted school authorities, CPA executives, education officials, teachers, parents, students, and other distinguished guests. The event underscored the growing role of parent–school partnerships in addressing infrastructure challenges in public senior high schools.

Speaking at the event, CPA deputy chairperson, Mr. Charles Ayendago revealed that, the project was undertaken in response to the poor condition of the dormitory, which had become a source of concern for parents and affected students’ comfort and learning.

According to Mr. Ayendago, the renovation was completed within two and a half months and executed in three phases. The first phase involved extensive roofing works to address persistent flooding on the upper floor, at a cost of GH₵89,015.00.

The second phase covered electrical installations, masonry works, and repairs to doors, costing GH₵64,615.00. The final phase focused on painting and finishing works, amounting to GH₵31,132.00  .

In total, parents contributed GH₵184,742.00 to fully fund the project, working in close collaboration with the headmaster and his management team. The CPA Chairperson described the initiative as clear evidence of what unity and shared responsibility can achieve in supporting quality education.

Handing over the facility, the CPA appealed to school authorities to ensure proper maintenance to preserve the investment made by parents. Students were also urged to treat the dormitory as their own home and protect school property for the benefit of future generations  .

The association further reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with school management and government to promote academic excellence and improve facilities. As part of ongoing support, parents have agreed to contribute GH₵300 per head towards the purchase of a water tanker to ensure adequate water supply for students, especially during examination periods  .

Headmaster of Islamic Science Senior High School, Alhaji Mohammed Issifu, in a goodwill address expressed profound appreciation to the Concerned Parents Association (CPA) for its commitment to improving student accommodation.

He noted that decent boarding facilities are critical to discipline, comfort, and effective learning, and pledged that the school would ensure proper maintenance of the renovated dormitory.
