Ghana Airports Company assures smooth holiday travel as diaspora arrivals increase

The Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, says the company is fully prepared to welcome all members of the diaspora arriving in Ghana for the festive season.

She noted that December has become one of the busiest periods for Ghana’s airports, largely due to the growing number of international visitors participating in “December in GH” activities.

According to her, GACL has been working closely with airlines, security agencies, and tourism partners to ensure that arrivals and departures run smoothly throughout the period.

Yvonne Opare explained that additional staff have been deployed to key terminals to improve passenger flow and reduce waiting times.

She added that the company has enhanced sanitation, safety procedures, and customer service desks to create a more comfortable experience for both first-time visitors and returning travellers.

“We are here to serve the travelling public and to ensure that they travel in security and comfort, and so we welcome all the diasporans this busy season. At our car parks, we are aware of some congestion, and we are making arrangements for an overflow car park so that citizens picking up their loved ones will not stay in long queues,” she told Citi Business News.

The company also emphasised that it remains committed to providing world-class airport services as Ghana continues to grow as a top destination for holiday tourism and cultural events.
