Tamale, November 10, 2025 – The Northern Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a strong warning to party members who engage in what it describes as “irresponsible and disgraceful” media conduct intended to malign senior party officials and bring the party’s name into disrepute.
In a statement signed by the Regional Secretary, Prof. Hudu Zakaria, the Committee expressed deep disappointment over recent outbursts by some individuals believed to be NPP members on Radio Tamale’s political analysis programme, “Yel’Vuhi Dundongni.”
According to the Committee, these media appearances were characterised by “insults, fabrications, and personal attacks” directed at Members of Parliament, Regional Executives, and other key party leaders.
The statement clarified that the individuals involved do not belong to the NPP’s Regional or Constituency Communication Teams and described their conduct as “self-serving, disgraceful, and inimical to the image and cohesion of the party.”
Their actions, the Committee said, constitute a gross violation of Article 4(7)(1g) of the NPP Constitution, which prohibits behaviour that subjects the party to public ridicule or disrepute.
The Regional Executive Committee said it finds it “deeply regrettable” that such persons have chosen the media, especially the Yel’Vuhi Dundongni platform, to tarnish the hard-earned reputations of dedicated party officials.
The statement stressed that such behaviour “will not be tolerated under any circumstances.” As a result, the Committee has referred the individuals involved to the appropriate Regional and Constituency Disciplinary Committees for sanctions in accordance with party rules.
It emphasized that the NPP will fully deploy its internal disciplinary mechanisms to protect the party’s integrity, unity, and public reputation.
The Committee also issued a reminder to all members, sympathisers, and supporters to desist from irresponsible media commentary that undermines party authority.
Members with grievances are advised to use the established internal channels outlined in Article 4 of the Constitution rather than resorting to public attacks.
In addition, the NPP appealed to all media houses operating in the Northern Region to act responsibly by ensuring that invitations for political discussions involving NPP members are routed through the Regional Communication Directorate.
This, the statement explained, is necessary to promote coordinated and decent political communication and to safeguard Ghana’s multiparty democratic culture.
Reaffirming the party’s values, Prof. Zakaria noted that the NPP remains committed to fostering unity, discipline, and responsible communication. He urged members to reflect these principles in “both word and deed.”
