Zangbalun RC JHS closedown by NPP Chairman over Assembly’s unpaid debt, leaving students in Limbo

Email :101

The Zangbalun RC Junior High School (JHS) in the Kumbungu District has been unexpectedly shut down by the area’s NPP chairman, citing unresolved debt owed to him by the Kumbungu District Assembly.

The chairman, who was contracted two years ago to repair severe rainstorm damage to the school, claims he has not received payment despite completing the project and officially handing over the faci

Frustrated by what he calls “broken promises and prolonged delays” from the District Chief Executive (DCE) and the Assembly, the chairman took the drastic step of locking the school.

If I don’t take action now, with elections around the corner, I might never see my payment if a new administration takes over, he stated, expressing concern that a change in government could further jeopardize his chances of being paid.

The NPP chairman’s decision has drawn the attention of community members, who are increasingly worried about the education disruption.

Some residents claim that, under the previous NDC administration, a similar project was awarded to an NDC Youth Organizer who received timely compensation.

The chairman questions why, under an NPP administration, he has not received the same consideration, despite the DCE and Assembly being from his own party.

The school closure has displaced hundreds of students and teachers, leaving them without a facility and raising concerns about the potential long-term impact on education in Zangbalun.

The NPP chairman has vowed to keep the school locked until his payment is made in full, as the community and district leadership scramble to resolve the standoff.
